BISHOP FUNBI ADDO

 

Bishop Dr. (Mrs.) Funbi Addo is an inspirational woman of God who leads with wisdom and grace. Throughout her 22 years of marriage, she has diligently served alongside her husband, Bishop Fred Addo, with purpose and precision. Bishop Funbi Addo was born on the 20th of May in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria to the family of late Chief David & Mrs Lydia Ogundokun. (Her 75 years old mother is still alive). Funbi attended Bayero University Staff School, Kano, went on to St. Louis Secondary School Kano, then to S.B.S Zaria and she proceeded to study Medicine (MBBS) in ABU Zaria, from 1985 - 1990. She did her housemanship in the Specialist Hospital in Yola and completed it in A.B.U.T.H Kaduna. She later served in N.T.I Clinic Kaduna.She was ordained into the ministry on the 21st of May, 1995 and consecrated Bishop on the 14th of September 2008. From a very shy and reserved medical student, Funbi Addo has grown to become a firebrand. In her role as Executive Director of The Praise Women For All Nations, Mrs. Addo's heart for women is made evident in her efforts to embrace and encourage women from all backgrounds. In response to God's instruction to "Build for Him a strong, end- time army of 'Total Women", that will be useful to God, to themselves and to humanity," the fellowship was inaugurated on the 19th of April 1992. This young, newly married, medical doctor turned Pastor, led the fellowship at its very first meeting on the 23rd of January 1993 in Kaduna, with only 29 women in attendance. Today the fellowship has grown, has 26 established chapters nation- wide and is affecting thousands of women the world over. Recently she was conferred with a "Leading Ladies" award for her 'Mentorship qualities and positive influence on society’ by the Royal Women Academy, Life Changers Club International.In the year 2008, Funbi Addo released her first book, “Being That Special Woman”, revealing some of those simple truths and re-introducing the woman to herself and to her world. Funbi has co-authored a yearly devotional book entitled “Daily Moments With God” with husband for many years. A loving wife and mother, Bishop Dr. (Mrs.) Funbi Addo has three adorable children -Daniel, Freda, and Jaziel, who are also in the service of the Lord.
